Shared Governance
Virginia Tech has a system of shared governance that gives voice to all areas of the university community. The University Council is an advisory body to the president. It receives input from Commissions that cover all areas of university functions. These commissions report through the five senates (faculty, A/P faculty, staff, graduate, and undergraduate), which have broad representation.
This chart shows the commissions, their relationship to the senates, and the reporting structure for input and decisions.
